Australian computer scientist Craig Wright, who has long claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin, is now facing perjury charges in the UK. A London High Court judge has referred Wright to British prosecutors after finding that he extensively lied to back up his false assertion of being Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious author of Bitcoin’s 2008 white paper.
On July 16, Judge James Mellor concluded that Wright’s claim was thoroughly disproven. This decision followed a trial initiated by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which aimed to block Wright from suing Bitcoin developers.
