Deutsche Telekom Announces Bitcoin Mining Plans at BTC Prague

Deutsche Telekom has revealed its intention to begin mining Bitcoin (BTC), further expanding its activities in the crypto space.

The telecommunications giant, which has been running a Bitcoin node and Bitcoin Lightning nodes since 2023, shared this news at BTC Prague. Dirk Röder, Head of Web3 Infrastructure and Solutions at Deutsche Telekom, made the announcement:

“Since 2023, we have been running a Bitcoin node and Bitcoin Lightning nodes as well. I’d like to let you in on a little secret: we will soon engage in digital monetary photosynthesis.”

When asked to elaborate on the term ‘digital monetary photosynthesis,’ Röder replied cryptically, “We will.”

T-Mobile’s Web3 Involvement

Deutsche Telekom has been actively participating in the Web3 ecosystem. Since June 2023, it has been a Polygon validator, utilizing its extensive infrastructure to secure new revenue streams and strengthen its position in the blockchain industry.
