Filipino Artists’ YouTube Accounts Hacked to Promote XRP Scam

Several popular Filipino musicians have had their YouTube accounts hacked to promote a fraudulent XRP advertisement.

On July 15, YouTube accounts of well-known Filipino artists, including the pop band Ben&Ben, boyband SB19, and musician Rico Blanco, were hacked to broadcast a scam involving XRP.

The scam involved a deepfake video featuring someone falsely claiming that XRP might reach $4. These scams often lead victims to phishing sites designed to steal their funds.

Ben&Ben, a nine-member band with over three million YouTube followers, confirmed that their account was hacked on July 15. Musician Rico Blanco’s YouTube account, which has over 700,000 followers, was also targeted. Although there has been no official statement from Blanco, users on Reddit noticed that his account was compromised. The account is currently blocked by YouTube for violating its guidelines.
