Hong Kong’s HashKey Crypto Exchange Announces Support for Solana

The international branch of Hong Kong’s HashKey crypto exchange has added Solana (SOL) to its list of supported assets.

HashKey Global, the international arm of HashKey Group, is expanding its range of supported assets by adding Solana (SOL) to attract more customers worldwide.

In a recent press release, the exchange announced it will launch spot trading for the SOL/USDT pair on May 24 at 10:00 (UTC). This addition expands the list of supported assets on HashKey, which already includes Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Dogecoin (DOGE), among others. However, trading is not available for users in the U.S. or China. Despite the announcement, SOL has experienced a nearly 8% decline in value, currently trading at $163, according to CoinGecko’s latest data at press time.

Hong Kong’s HashKey Group launched the international version of its crypto exchange in early April to broaden its global offerings. In a recent interview, HashKey Group COO Livio Weng explained the reasons behind this expansion, stating that “the local market is not that big,” and noting that regulatory challenges in the region “block a lot of global users.”

Looking forward, Weng outlined the company’s ambitious plans to secure additional funding to support its international business initiatives. While specific details about the funding remain undisclosed, reports indicate that HashKey is in discussions with potential investors, with expectations of a funding round exceeding the $100 million raised in its previous Series A financing.

Summary Review: HashKey Global’s addition of Solana (SOL) to its list of supported assets marks a significant step in its strategy to attract a global customer base. Despite regulatory challenges and the current decline in SOL’s value, HashKey’s expansion efforts demonstrate its commitment to broadening its market reach. With plans to secure additional funding, HashKey aims to strengthen its international presence and continue growing its offerings in the competitive crypto exchange landscape.
