Zetrix Introduces Digital ID Verification for Chinese Nationals Abroad

The Malaysian blockchain platform, Zetrix, is now offering a digital identity verification service called ZCert for Chinese nationals living abroad. This service allows individuals to securely verify their official digital identities on the Chinese government-run Xinghuo Blockchain Infrastructure and Facility (BIF).

Zetrix’s Global Expansion Plans
Zetrix is able to provide this service because of its integration with Xinghuo BIF, which is managed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Zetrix also operates the international supernode for Xinghuo BIF, extending its reach globally.

T.S. Wong, co-founder of Zetrix, said ZCert enables new types of services powered by smart contracts. He added, “Payments on Web3 platforms can now be fully compliant with current regulations.” Wong also mentioned that their digital ID system combines China’s Digital ID with Malaysia’s National ID and World ID, making ZCert one of the most comprehensive global digital identity solutions.

Zetrix’s parent company, MY EG Services, has been working with Malaysia’s government research agency, MIMOS, since 2022 to create a national public blockchain. MIMOS also signed an agreement with Worldcoin to integrate Worldcoin’s technology into Malaysia’s digital infrastructure.

Future Plans for ZCert
Zetrix aims to expand its ID verification service to include other important documents, such as Chinese driving licenses, which can already be verified for use abroad.

The Challenges of Digital Identity
Xinghuo BIF also offers a signature verification service. With its integration into Zetrix, the platform plans to provide services like cross-border tracking of goods, identity verification, and supply-chain financing in Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.

ZCert will use a self-sovereign identity model, allowing individuals to control which parts of their identity they share and which parts they keep private. Because it’s built on blockchain, these IDs can be verified as genuine and updated when necessary.

Global Efforts in Digital Identity
Digital identity remains a challenging area, even as companies like IBM, Polygon, and the Ethereum Attestation Service work on solutions for verifying identity on the blockchain.

Summary Review: Zetrix’s introduction of the ZCert digital ID verification service for Chinese nationals abroad marks a significant step in using blockchain for secure and global identity management. With its integration into China’s Xinghuo BIF, Zetrix aims to expand its services beyond ID verification to other key documents and services. This move reflects broader global efforts to solve the challenges of digital identity on blockchain, as platforms strive to offer secure, compliant, and user-controlled solutions for identity verification.
